Let’s Talk About it
Massage, that is.
When you think about a massage, are you eager to get mashed?
I find this is the most common preference when it comes to massage.

Pressure
For some, there is a sense of pride that no therapist can ever provide enough pressure.
While I’m the ambassador of light touch therapy sessions, CranioSacral therapy is not a massage and it achieves different results. Yes they are both relaxing, but that is a lot of where the similarities end.
Today I want to talk about the other end of the pressure scale and introduce you to the juiciest full-body mashing you’ve likely never experienced.
What is Sarga?
A few weeks ago, I attended a Sarga Bodywork training.
Give this video a quick watch:
And answer this one question for me:
Sarga Bodywork is the innovation brain child of two Hawaiian-based bodyworkers.
By attaching a piece of fabric to the massage table, the therapist is able to achieve deep pressure from an oblique angle by pulling on the fabric while using their sanitized foot as a tool.
Perhaps you’ve experienced Ashiatsu where the therapist holds onto bars attached to the ceiling? While you’d be a fool to turn one down, this type of massage creates pressure directly down into the body.
By comparison, when a therapist is wrapped into a Sarga silk, applies pressure from an angle, and uses the just right amount of tacky lubrication, the therapist’s foot is able to stretch the web of connective tissue throughout your body called your fascia.
There is truly nothing like it
I fancy myself a bit of a bodywork connoisseur.
And I agree with Mr. T:
If you’re in the Bay area and would like to take a spin, hit reply.
If you’re not close enough to get under my feet, I encourage you to at least look and see if anyone in your area is practicing Sarga.
