Were you raised in a culture that defaults to pills for any malady?
When you feel the pull to just fix a problem, instantly, this expectation comes from the water we swim in.
It may come as a surprise or feel uncomfortable to learn that headache relief, general relaxation, and even prevention of Alzheimer’s disease could be found by nestling the back of your head on this thing.
This thing that, let’s face it, looks like a red rubber boobs figurine.
It’s not one of those neck relaxation tools.
Instead, this tool works by gently blocking one of the chambers of your brain.
Yes, there are chambers in your brain - ventricles - just like there are chambers in your heart.
When this device is sat just so on the back of your head, the cerebral spinal fluid builds up a little bit of pressure and - FWOOSH - cleanses the brain.
The FWOOSH is known as a still point.
And don’t worry, it’s gentle. A cough or sneeze would create more pressure in the brain.
If you happen to have a condition where you have been advised to limit ANY change in brain pressure, then this is not for you. But such a status is very rare, you should only avoid a still point if experiencing internal bleeding in the head, acute stroke, acute head trauma, or brain stem tumor. Conditions where you would be in a hospital, not reading this.
We use this technique in CranioSacral therapy by placing our hands under your head just so:
Whether with hands, an official Still Point Inducer, or just two tennis balls in a sock, you can achieve the same effect by getting the humps right at the place on the back of the skull, centered on the line where it transitions from bone to meat.
When your hands are under someone’s skull like this, you can feel the rhythm of fluid as the heads expands and contracts. The FWOOSH feels like the slow, rhythmic pulsating slowing and then pausing. Then it starts coming back, softly then stronger.
It hasn’t actually stopped, that’s just how it feels. That’s when you know you’ve achieved the desired result. If using hands, you soften to flat and slide your hands out.
Also, if using hands, it works best to ask the person to lift their head, slide your hands under, already in formation, and ask the person to gently lower down.
When you use a Still Point Inducer by yourself at home, just make sure your eyes are closed.
No scrolling while you do this!
And hang out for about ten minutes. If you have time, go for twenty.
This technique has been taught to caregivers by Michael Morgan. Research (that has no patentable outcome like pharma research, remember) has shown reduction in the symptoms of dementia patients. And why it’s believed to be a tool to help prevent such conditions. Although it’s not a miracle worker - there’s no denying that exercise, diet, and releasing trapped emotions play a huge role!

I love to hear if you give it a try. And if you know someone suffering from headaches, migraines, anxiety, or Alzheimer’s/dementia, please share.
